After beating out 16 candidates in the Republican Primary and securing 304 electoral college votes, Donald John Trump became the 45th President of the United States. The program begins by comparing the contentious campaign to the surprisingly nasty and controversial presidential election of 1800 between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. It focuses on the significance of Inauguration Day and the importance of the peaceful transition of power, which is the hallmark of our Democracy. The video also examines the many traditions of Inauguration Day -- especially the Oath of Office as put forth by the U.S. Constitution. In addition, viewers will learn about the presidential campaign process and important terms associated with U.S. Elections, including political parties, caucus, primary, debate, convention, poll and electoral college. In this program, students will learn about President Trump's European ancestry, his childhood in New York, his family and his education. The program also explores the President's various business ventures in commercial real estate, the hospitality industry, and entertainment. Viewers will also learn about his books and his rise to fame as a television personality. They will learn that he is the first president to assume the office with no political or military experience, and that he is the oldest president ever elected.
