Description
This study explores the need for and sets forth a proposal strategy for sustainability for the wine industry (including grape growing and winemaking) in the Leelanau Michigan Approved Viticulture Area. The document utilizing a case study design begins by summarizing the area's historical background, stakeholders, industry life cycle and business environments and reviews current environmental and social elements as well as addresses the current status of research. The strategy is guided by seven tenets of sustainability as set forth by Werbach as an overarching doctrine. In addition it applies analysis of external and internal environments to provide priorities and recommendations for the industry and its stakeholders for the foreseeable future.
