Description
"The Culmination of the Roosevelt Archaeological Project in southern Arizona's Tonto Basin, this contributed volume presents fifteen papers synthesizing the archaeological and environmental data gleaned from the surveys and excavations of prehistoric Salado culture, which flourished from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries. First presented at an Amerind Foundation New World Study Seminar sponsored by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1995, these papers place the Roosevelt archaeological research into southwestern regional context and try to generate a definitive statement on Salado, a highly controversial organizing concept in the southwestern archaeological community."--Jacket.
