"Nearly two decades have passed since the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 shocked the United States and the world. More than 3,000 Americans and several hundred foreign nationals from some ninety countries died that day at the hands of al-Qaeda. A united nation mourned its losses and vowed to punish the perpetrators.
