Notes

Description
"Raks Al Asaya, Arabic for "cane dance," originates in the Sa'id region located in the south of Egypt. Men and women alike dance with the cane, typically at celebrations and festivals. On this DVD, Virginia combines these folkloric steps with the feminine grace and flirtatiousness of bellydance. The style of music associated with cane dance is called Saidi, Arabic for "from Sa'id," which is also the name of the rhythm most commonly heard in saidi music. The rababa (fiddle), mizmar (wind instrument), and dholla (drum) are typical instruments in Saidi music. ."--Cover.
